Series Program Description:
Over the past several years, LEED has become one of the most powerful voluntary market transformation tools to emerge in the environmental arena.
Starting in 2006, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) worked with more than 80 retailers, shopping center developers and consultants to better understand how LEED should be modified to work in the retail sector. Recently, LEED for Retail has been approved by the USGBC, providing retailers and their real estate, development, design and construction departments with an internationally recognized third-party certified benchmark to verify environmental improvements in the built environment. It also brings important differences and complexities to the built environment professional, as well as new competition for green building projects.
Because real estate is such a vital component to retail success, professionals in the built environment should be prepared to make informed decisions about LEED for Retail – not only how it works, but whether it’s the appropriate green building benchmark strategy for their organization.
Together, ICSC, Chain Store Age and Ecoxera have developed this exclusive three-part education series to provide valuable insight on the LEED for Retail rating system. All three webinars feature Ecoxera co-founders Justin Doak and Lisa Russell as co-presenters.
