Sustainable Design

Client Profile

Established International Quick Service Restaurant.

Situation

Knowing that engaging customers in a retailer’s environmental commitments happens at the store level – either through product or the experience center – the Retailer sought the creation of a scalable sustainable interior design program that was within the budget of their conventional program and would double as an educational program for their customers.

Ecoxera Solution

Ecoxera’s Sustainability Experts took the Retailer’s existing conventional interior program inclusive of their material standards and, within the same budget, made it more environment-friendly, improved health and indoor air quality, contributed to improved modern aesthetics, and communicated green efforts to customers through graphics and signage. The program identified opportunities within Retailer’s conventional interior space for new waste management practices and incorporation of sustainable materials that complied with LEED and Retailer’s corporate sustainability goals – inclusive of furniture, fixtures, signage, graphics, and wall, ceiling and floor finishes. The implementation of the new program – which integrated sustainable material solutions, energy efficient lighting, low-VOC finishes, a recycling program, green communications, and 3rd party certifications – came in under budget. Based on the success of the program, the Retailer created a more robust corporate sustainability strategy.

End Result

- The roll-out of an attractive, sustainable interior package that cost less than Retailer’s conventional, non-sustainable program.
- Retailer’s entrance into the sustainability space resulting in improved shareholder perception and increased brand integrity
- Compelling in-store and external marketing and communications that educated new and prospective customers on Retailer’s sustainability initiatives, resulting in market and customer growth and increased customer loyalty.
